Chae Ko, M.D.

Dr. Ko is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine who is fellowship trained in sports medicine. While completing a medical degree at St. Matthews University School of Medicine, he also obtained a concurrent Master’s degree in Health Administration. He joins our practice as an adult and pediatric non-operative specialist of sports medicine, orthopaedic injuries and concussion management. With the addition of Dr. Ko’s expertise, we will expand our Sportho Orthopaedic Clinic for improved access to our services.

Dr. Ko completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. During his training, he worked collaboratively in a unique, multidisciplinary setting with renowned orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, physiatrists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, health and performance experts, and musculoskeletal radiologists. Dr. Ko learned the most efficient strategies for delivering the best outcome to patients. Dr. Ko also experienced superior research collaboration between Steadman Hawkins, University of South Carolina/Greenville Health System and Clemson University. Dr. Ko presented at several regional and national conferences including American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Ko practices evidence-based medicine. He completed residency in Greenville, South Carolina with the University of South Carolina/Greenville Health System, where he served as chief resident and received the Academic Achievement Award. During this time, he was recognized by the hospital system for stellar service and received research awards by the South Carolina Medical Association and the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Ko served as team physician for numerous high schools and universities around Greenville including North Greenville University. He also served as an infirmary physician at Furman University. In addition to the collegiate and high school experience, he served as team physician of Greenville Road Warriors hockey team; a NY Rangers affiliate and the Greenville Drive baseball team; a Boston Red Sox affiliate. His event coverage included Division I Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse National Championship Tournament, USA Pro Cycling Championship, South Carolina College All-Star Football, various triathlons, wrestling events, karate tournaments, and rodeos.

His professional interests include general orthopaedics and musculoskeletal procedures including musculoskeletal ultrasound. He also has specific interests in concussion management and sports-related injuries and prevention.

Dr. Ko looks forward to meeting new patients and serving the Nashville area and middle Tennessee.
